A Sign Of Maturation
It might be a sign of blatant homerism that a pretty terrible first loss against a division team is seen by the Eddy Spaghetti staff as a sign of positive things, but hear me out.
MAF faced 47 shots and two got in. Inopportune moments, yes. But one was a total fluke and the other was a nutso-bo-butso placement by Parisie. Lost in the raw numbers: The D forced the shots to the outside and while MAF’s rebound control looked shaky at times (the MSG announcers wouldn’t shut up about it, also, they were right) the D was there to clear things out.
So: D = VERY injured. D = reason we almost won a game when the offense couldn’t get out of their own way.
Make no mistake, the next step for the Pens is a good start and they are 1-1-1. But I’ll take a game where MAF and D over perform and the World Class Offense slacks any old day of the week.
