Sometimes, just having the best two players in the world is enough. Period.
The third period of the Islanders game was like watching youth hockey where the two kids with mustaches just decide to dominate. Malkin came from so far out of nowhere to nail that second goal on the feed from Crosby that Nightcrawler was fucking baffled.
Make no mistake, this team still has problems. Workable problems that look very small while the team is winning, but problems none the less.
However, posit this theory, if you leave Bing and Malkamania on the top like with Syko, you still have the Staal/Cooke/Kennedy line as a solid #2 and that puts guys like Ziggy, Satan, Tank and now Pesonen to populate your “energy” lines.
